Cool tunes, indeed.  And I should know, since I inadvertently instigated the title.  As usual, virtuoso harp guitarist Stephen Bennett takes on the impossible and makes it sound easy.  More interesting is that he takes this often obscure but wonderful material and gives it a whole new life on the steel string harp guitar, which frankly, classical guitar can’t hope to compete with (sustain, anyone?).  The superb and consistent sonic ear candy comes courtesy of his new Kathy Wingert harp guitar, used for the entire album, his own recording talents, and the mixing genius of Kim Person.  Oh, and of course the always-stellar playing.

Classical music and soundtrack fans will be especially delighted (from the epic Gershwin Lullaby to incredible Bernstein pieces), as will Jeff Beck fans with the seldom heard Stevie Wonder tune and a stirring, soulful Nature Boy.  And who knew Buddy Holly was this cool?!
