For those interested in new or used instruments, we recommend reading
Shopping for the Perfect Harp Guitar published on Harpguitars.net.

International Shoppers: Please research the Cites Treaty Regulations and the ramifications of shipping any instrument before purchasing or shipping.  Harp Guitar Music is not liable for any confiscation of instruments for real or imagined inclusion of Cites-listed material.

All instruments offered with a 48 hour, no questions asked approval period. Shipping at buyer's expense. Feel free to get on a Wait List for any instrument.  "On Hold" may mean one of 3 things: I have placed a courtesy hold for one or more parties who are researching it and obtaining funding (or asking the spouse!); someone has committed and is sending or has sent payment; or instrument has been shipped out for approval.  Nothing is "sold" until instrument has been received by purchaser and approved the sale.  This is why some items remain on hold for some time, as funds are submitted and instrument is shipped. Note: Unless otherwise specified, I have all instruments in my possession, whether Consignment or HGM offerings. - Gregg Miner

Consignment Rates

Buying, Selling and Brokering Harp Guitars is Our Specialty!

It's a delicate negotiation.  Sellers understandably want the highest possible price.  Buyers want a deal (most cannot afford even the lowest priced examples, let alone their dream instrument).
My job (Gregg Miner) is to put Buyers and Sellers together with realistic terms for both parties.
My passion is to get harp guitars into the hands of players and collectors who will treasure, preserve and share them for years to come.
Both buyer and seller are fully protected until completion of the transaction, because I act as Broker/Escrow Service.
Our fees and percentages are ridiculously low, because I prefer to see these rare instruments channeled through Harp Guitar Music, rather than eBay or private sales.
Fees:
Consignment rates consist of a Listing Fee and a Percentage of Sale.

The one-time, payable-in-advance Listing fee is either $150 or $50, depending on whether I have the instrument in hand (recommended) to handle all details (photos, evaluation, packing and shipping) or whether you retain possession of the instrument and handle everything (certain minimum requirements apply; see below).

Percentage of Sale is based on Listed Price or Final Selling Price if a discount is mutually negotiated (any extra Paypal fee not part of "selling price").  This commission will be deducted from your proceeds payment.

Rates:
Sales price up to $1000:    20%
Sales price up to $2000 18%
Sales price up to $3500: 16%
Sales price up to $5000: 14%
Sales price up to $6500 12%
Sales price up to $8000: 10%
Sales price up to $10,000: 8%
Sales price up to $15,000: 7%
Sales price up to $20,000: 6%
Sales price over $20,000: 5%

Sellers wishing to retain possession during listing must meet the following requirements:
The consignor agrees to:

  • Provide presentable high resolution photos of instrument showing front, back, sides, any distinguishing characteristics and any repairs or defects.
  • Provide a full description of instrument to the best of their ability.
  • Pre-pay $50 listing fee (payable to Harp Guitar Music).
  • Be prepared to safely pack and ship instrument to anywhere in the world once payment has been received by the consignee (and buyer’s expense).
  • Pay consignee the additional commission based on final selling price.
  • Assume all responsibility for accurate, honest description.

For additional information on the sales process, please contact us.

Layaway

I am sensitive to the issues in financing your harp guitar purchase, whether it is a $20,000 one-of-a-kind vintage piece, or a new Holloway harp guitar, and am dedicated to finding good homes for consignors instruments, and helping you obtain your dream harp guitar.  Where it gets tricky is when people putting down deposits change their mind down the road, along with considering my 48-approval period, which I believe everyone should have.

So, to make sure you achieve your 100% satisfaction approval period, and complete the transaction in a reasonable time frame, I offer these terms:

  • 1 third of total up front
  • Another third 1 month later
  • Balance (plus shipping) 1 month after that
  • The instrument is then shipped.  If you approve the sale, transaction is complete (I have yet to have a return).
  • If Layaway is cancelled for any reason, there is a non-refundable restocking fee as follows:
    • Within first month: 20%
    • Within second month: 15%
    • If returned after 48-hour approval period: 10%

Testimonials

"I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth, quick, and easy the process was. You provide an extremely valuable service." - Matt Farr, July, 2020

"Gregg will never be accused of being a man of few words. The descriptions of the instruments that he has for sale are both informative and humorous. His passion for the harp guitar comes through loud and clear on every listing. When Gregg wrote about the Beardsell harp guitar 'Frankly, I think it may be one of the most phenomenal-sounding harp guitars made today' this got my attention. When the guitar arrived and I had a chance to play it, I could hear what he meant.  It was just as he described.  Thanks for a flawless transaction! You provide an invaluable service for fans of the full sized guitar!" - Randall Sprinkle, September, 2016

"The Tonedevil was exactly what I was looking for; a well made, quality instrument that sounds  and plays fantastic at a price point affordable.  I sincerely appreciate the knowledge and recommendations you shared with me making this purchase a most enjoyable experience.  I am hooked on this instrument!  Thank you Gregg!!" - Larry Elfenbein, February, 2016

"Completely in love with it (new Dyer in walnut).  Thanks so much to you for putting it out there, your work, and the makers. This is something like the 23rd guitar in my collection and has taken the #1 spot over my '28 Gibson L" - Charles, Sep. 2015

"I think it (Duane Noble harp uke) is one of the best ukuleles in the world!  Thanks again!‍- Haoyi, Jan, 2015

"Thanks for the extreme care in packaging.  (The Tonedevil) arrived in great condition.  Best $600 "upgrade" that I've ever made.  Prior instrument I tried did not have any where near the tone quality the Tonedevil has.  Nor to the non-professional eye, the quality workmanship.  Thanks for a world class transaction and an excellent instrument.  Please pass on my appreciation to the Powell brothers for making a quality value for a first timer entering what I hope will be many years of enjoyment. Regards, Jerry" ― (Brown, June, 2014)

"Thank you Gregg - What a amazing experience from Harp Guitar Music!!!  You made my purchase experience the most comfortable and honest I've ever encountered! What more can a customer ask for?  What's the deal with that harp guitar?  Exactly how Gregg describes them... that's what!  With years of experience, passion and dedication...you can count on getting more then you bargain for at Harp Guitar Music.  As for the Holloway Harp Guitar in my hands...in my personal opinion, the harp sounds and plays better then described.  It does require some set-up work (as stated) if you require that "certain feel" out of your guitars.  The Holloway Harp is a very stable platform that is certainly playable out of the box...and workable well into the PRO stratosphere!  Gregg doesn't say much about his musicianship - modest fellow he is...be sure to ask for his CD...you'll love that too! - Jeffrey Storms, March, 2012

"I think you did a superb job when describing them in the Holloway FAQ!" - Burkhard R. Baader, Feb, 2012

"The sound is like having a good quality tube reverberation amp on, and I am quite impressed with his instrument building.  It is actually better than a tube amp reverb, because it is acoustic, but really carries the notes, as though your hitting that feedback sweet spot with a favorite vintage amp. Arul has mastered a wonderful sonority with this Harp Guitar creation, I feel fortunate to have snagged it. I would definitely order another Harp Guitar from him in a heartbeat." -Blair Johnson, Feb, 2012

"Gregg - thanks so much for the mandolin; it's gorgeous!  It's everything you described it to be.  It's very, very nice." -Anonymous Collector, Feb, 2012

"I was given the Spillers harp guitar yesterday for Christmas, and it's even better than described. I've learned to expect the worst when buying guitars on the internet, so it was quite a pleasant surprise to receive an instrument described completely honestly (in fact, I didn't even notice a couple observations you'd made about the about the guitar until I re-read the description you provided...and I'm very picky about condition!) The packing was first rate as well. Thank you. Sounds great, is a joy to play. and looks fantastic. I'm very happy." -Derek Bell, Dec, 2011

"The guitar is here! She is so beautiful! I'll play it every day as soon as possible to play this wonderful instrument!" -Andreas Röper, July, 2011

"Thank you again for handling this sale so efficiently and effectively. More importantly, thanks for providing the (spectacular) alternative to eBay. How satisfying that there is now A Right Way To Sell these instruments." -Peter Ridgway , July, 2011

"The guitar arrived safe and and intact. I'm pleased with the condition it is in, it is pretty much exactly as you described it. In general I think this will be a great guitar for me... Thanks for your help and the ease in the process of getting the guitar, I'm very pleased how it turned out." -Joe Gailey, July, 2011

"I thought I ought to add a comment that I have once again used Gregg’s consignment and marketing services and am just as pleased as usual. His well thought out descriptions and quality photos fairly and honestly represent the instruments merits (and any faults) from both the Seller’s and Buyer’s perspective. All the above comments still apply.  If you want to buy or sell a Harp Guitar – especially if you are new to these unique instruments, you certainly owe it to yourself to contact Gregg first" -Eric Hartshorn, Nov, 2010

"Selling my Dyer Style 4 for the appropriate price would have been difficult and risky without your dedicated efforts. We are completely satisfied with the transaction, the more so since the new caretaker is so happy to have the treasured instrument." -Dan Pease, June, 2010

"Hi Gregg.......everything is perfect ...yesterday i got your big flight case combo full of golden candies. What a  fantastic instrument.  THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for this great transaction, the excellent packing and handling !!!!!    ALL THE BEST, MARTIN LEYKOMM, Germany, June, 2010

"As expected, the Mittenwald arrived late Saturday morning.  I did not put it down until I came to work this morning.  Unbelievable sound from such a small bodied instrument.  Long story short, I absolutely love it and I am so glad that I found you instead of one of the Chinese rip-off artists. So, again, thank you for being honest and patient with a total stranger. I have already recommended you to the half dozen people who have seen me play this beautiful vintage masterpiece." - Mike Mychajlonka, Feb, 2009

“I got the (Dyer harp) guitar this morning.  It is actually in much better shape than I thought it would be.  I hope I’m in this good a shape if I make it to 90 years old!  I’m looking forward to fixing it up to last another 90 years.” - Dan Dragland, Dec, 2008

"The German harp guitar arrived today safe & sound, and it is awesome! Both Annie & I think it's gorgeous and look forward to playing it a lot. It truthfully is in much better shape then I expected, so thank you for that!" - David Enke, Dec, 2008

"There is an orchestra in here!  I love this guitar!" - JRJ, Sep, 2008

"I communicated with the very friendly and honest middle man Gregg Miner. Without him, having a harp guitar in my hands would not be possible, so I owe him a big thanks. The Lark in the Morning harp guitar’s base price is $1600 (US) at Harp Guitar Music. Strangely, it is a hundred dollars more expensive at Lark in the Morning. My order from Harp Guitar Music included the case, and some setup work. After shipping, customs tax, and brokerage, it came to a grand total of about $2200 (CDN)."  - Muir Woods, Nov, 2007

"I simply can’t recommend Gregg Miner of Harp Guitar Music enough if you are considering selling your Harp Guitar to the right audience and getting the best professional representation possible.  If he does all the work for you, Gregg will honestly and accurately describe your instrument and take nice photos which show the instrument in the best possible light.  He is quite flexible as to your level of involvement in the process and appropriately prices his very fair commission based on the level of support that you require.  I would confidently & whole-heartedly recommend Gregg Miner at Harp Guitar Music if you are considering either a purchase or sale of these highly specialized instruments. His knowledge is immense and his professionalism is unequaled.  (Friends don’t let friends E-bay)  I will definitely use Gregg in the future if I am in need of his services again." - Eric Hartshorn
